Flight School: Nike Air Zoom Generation LeBron 1

When you’re 18 years old and word in the media spreads that a young high school ballplayer is to be “the next best thing,” the nation keeps its eyes on you. James, who sported #23 for the Cleveland Cavaliers, has been under the microscope since his days at St. Vincent–St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. When he was selected number one overall in the 2003 NBA Draft, Nike nabbed LBJ to design his first sneaker: the Nike Air Zoom Generation LeBron 1.

The Air Zoom Generations featured new design aspects such as Zoom Air in the heel and forefoot for comfort, paired with lightness in weight. These kicks were limited and retailed for $115 but it was difficult to find a pair after the release for less than $200. Since day one in Cleveland, to this year in Miami which will be the decade mark for his NBA journey, we figured it was right to highlight the beginnings of the future Hall-Of-Famer who already has two NBA Championships, four league MVP trophies and two Olympic gold medals.

“Zoom” up to today, in related news, LeBron’s latest advertisement with Nike Basketball entitled “Training Day” takes place in Miami and we believe it will be remarkable when looking back at his highlighted career. Also: make sure to watch LeBron and the Miami Heat take on Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls (tomorrow) on October 29th.
