2013 NBA Playoffs: Where They’re At & Where They’re Going
Alrighty folks — we’re halfway through most of these NBA first-round matchups. Enough has happened so that we feel at least somewhat confident in making some bold predictions but absolutely nothing is guaranteed. Every team is an injury away from elimination or a surprise sleeper performance away from glory.
Where do we stand today? Well, the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder have quickly reminded fans why they are the class of their respective Conference. However, the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Clippers have made their own strong impressions, quickly taking a 2 – 0 lead over the aging Boston Celtics and the Memphis Grizzlies, respectively. Another team that’s all too familiar with aging, the San Antonio Spurs, look pretty comfortable playing a Mamba-less Los Angeles Lakers squad. But with Dwight Howard looking revigorated in the paint, there’s no telling what’ll come of that series. Just as there are no clear favorites in the Chicago Bulls / Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks / Indiana Pacers matchups.
Call us crazy, but after last night’s epic showdown, we’re going to guess that the Golden State Warriors / Denver Nuggets series may go down as the most exciting first round series since the Bulls / Celtics matchup in 2009. Aside from that, we’re going to save ourselves the embarrassment of incorrectly guessing which team is winning what. We will say this though — it’s LeBron and Co.’s title to lose. We’re just waiting on a star like Melo, KD or CP3 to remind us that they can, in-fact, win the big one.
