Flight School: Nike Air Zoom GP
No wonder why they called him “The Glove”. What was on his shoes reflected his style of play on the court. Designed with a focus on performance and a more modernized design, the Nike Air Zoom GP was one of the reasons why it was so tough for players to get past him. Originally released in 1997 (the first image above is the Nike Air Zoom GPII and was released in 2000), the Nike Air Zoom GP was part of Nike’s famed Alpha Project and was equipped with a buckle strap that ensured a snug fit. The Air Zoom GP never evolved into a shoe that could be conveniently worn off the court, but it was detailed with flex grooves for optimal movements and internalized air units that maximized the performance of a defensive minded player.
