Throwback Thursday: Derek Fisher’s Miraculous Game Winning Shot, Game 5, ’04 Semifinals
Even though the playoffs are over, the memories last forever. With a handful of outstanding performances in this year’s finals between the Heat and Thunder, there’s not another memorable series of plays that led up to Derek Fisher’s 2004 Western Conference Semifinals (Los Angeles Lakers vs. San Antonio Spurs) Game 5 Miracle Shot. It winded down with both teams playing tit for tat, aggressive defense but unstoppable offense. And just when the Spurs thought they had Game 5 in the bag after Tim Duncan’s beyond clutch fadeaway from the top of the key leaving just 0.4 seconds left on the clock, Derek Fisher miraculously threw up an off balance shot that hit nothing but net right through the net to defeat the Spurs 74-73.
